Fundamentals of Tattoo Design

In this two (2) day weekend Live Class, guest instructor Louise Gasca will teach you how to recognize and draw tattoo designs in the American Traditional style.

American traditional tattoos, also known as “old school” tattoos, are characterized by their clean black outlines, vivid colors, and minimal shading. It is also one of the most popular tattooing styles today.

Flash sheets play an important role in the tattoo industry. They serve both as a menu for potential clients, as well as a showcase of your artistic abilities. Whether you want to learn how to design your own tattoos, or you are thinking of becoming a tattoo artist, this Live Class provides you with the solid foundation you need to be successful.

Path to Mastery In this podcast series, sculptor and NMA program director Johanna Schwaiger will be interviewing professionals in different visual art fields. Each artist will share their art practice, creative stories, and career advice to help inspire you. Whether you want to become a full-time studio artist or work for large production companies, these motivational episodes will give you the valuable insights that prepare you for your upcoming mastery.

Perspective I In this 12-week course, master draftsperson Erik Olson will guide you through the foundations of linear perspective. You will learn how to measure, plot, and problem solve using the principles of perspective. Then, Erik will teach you how to interpret perspective from photography and masterworks. You will explore how the Old Masters utilized perspective as a tool for visual communication. After completing this course, you will build a solid understanding of perspective that allows you to draft complex scenes and objects.

Renaissance Head Drawing In this 8-week course, master draftsman Glenn Vilppu will teach you his unique approach to drawing the head, rooted in the traditions of the Old Masters. You will learn how to illustrate the portrait with three-dimensionality. You will master the construction, planes, and anatomy of the head. In sharing his technique, Glenn will help you achieve the ability to create effortless yet convincing drawings.

Vehicle Concept Design Join renowned concept artist Michal Kus in a 5-day intensive Live Class focusing on vehicle concept design. In this class, you will develop a strong foundation for drawing fundamentals, skills that every successful concept artist needs to succeed in their field. Michal will focus on the awareness and thorough study of how real-world vehicles are designed and how these designs are visually perceived through function and the aesthetical aspect. You will gain a solid foundation to pursue vehicle concept design seriously. This Live Class will run for five consecutive days.
