About This Class In this class, you’ll learn how to achieve a moody and evocative atmosphere to enhance your portraits.
I will be using Photoshop CC and a Wacom Intuous Pro for this tutorial, but these skills can be applied to any medium or program. This class assumes you have the basic knowledge of drawing the human form and aims to build on top of established skills to enhance your ability.

We will go through building your ideas through thumbnails and how to create a narrative portrait. What to look for when using reference. Transforming your thumbnail into a sketch. Working with values to achieve dynamic and moody lighting. Using gradient maps and textures to create an atmospheric colour scheme. Talking you through the rendering process. How to bring your moody portrait to finish. There are also class resources provided to help solidify concepts and references for you to apply to your own work.If you want to level up and create an atmospheric narrative beyond regular portraiture then you will enjoy this class!
