Learn from scratch to create, vector and optimize your letters in a professional way If you are passionate about letters, learn to design them in Adobe Illustrator by the hand of designer Andrés Ochoa, getting professional results in just 5 courses. Learn from scratch to use the software in a general way but deepening the use of letters, and get your letterings , typography or calligraphy to a real plane.

The first thing will be to know how the software is structured and its interface. You will learn to move around the work environment, seeing the first tools such as guides, layers, selectors or work tables, and starting with the basics: to create your first document and save it by exploring the different formats.

Next, the teacher will teach you to create basic figures and a trick to round their corners. You will learn to transform objects and even create them with the pencil or brush. You will use the text tool to edit your paragraphs, and finally, you can start to color your creations.

You can take advantage of your fonts with Opentype and glyphs. You will learn to use variable sources and discover how to transform a text into an object to modify the features of the letters.

You will get acquainted with the bezier curves, mastering them to create your letterings , typography or custom calligraphy, learning the different processes for creating them. You will create parameters, guides and see how to work in an orderly manner with layers. You will also learn what perfect pixels are and how to take them into account. You will discover how to reuse strokes to work in a more agile way.

You will get the keys to decorate your own letters and know tools such as tracers, displacement and clipping masks. You’ll see how to create shadows, fills and patterns with the merge, and how to generate volumes. You can finalize details such as textures, lights and shadows, and finally you will learn to simplify your files so you can easily share them.

Technical requirements

A computer with Windows 10 or macOS 10.12 Sierra (or higher). Adobe Illustrator CC (you can buy it or download the 7-day trial version on the Adobe website). It is recommended to have a graphics tablet.
