Learn how to create a strong visual identity for your brand and its products Creating a brief, identifying the main problem to be solved, analyzing your competition, and defining your territory are some of the fundamental steps to start building a brand, prior to the creation of its visual identity. Peruvian studio FIBRA is specialized in branding for entrepreneurs and startups, and in this course, they show you their process to approach a brand identity and visual identity project for product packaging.

Andrea Gálvez and Martín Bedoya teach you, step by step, a methodology that will give you confidence when taking on the responsibility of developing an entrepreneur’s project. They provide you with the tools and structure so that, based on it, you can then let your creativity fly and begin to establish the visual identity for a brand and specifically, to apply it to the packaging of one of its products.

About this course Andrea and Martín start by talking to you about their career in design and about FIBRA, their studio, which is focused on visual identity projects to help small entrepreneurs. They also show you their main influences.

See how to create a brief, the importance of visiting the company for which you will work, and of trying the product before defining the problem to be solved. Then, work on the debriefing.

The next step is to investigate and analyze the competition, in order to have a clear idea of what spaces are available in the market, and thus position yourself.

Together with Andrea, carry out the Golden Circle: define your brand purpose, how to do things, and what is the value proposition. Then, choose your brand territory with Martín and learn to define its personality. From there, you will be able to elaborate a big Idea and establish the cornerstone of your communication.

Let’s get to work! Bring your brand to life by creating a mood board to decide the graphic style, aligned with the conceptual part. Decide on the materials—according to your budget—and sketch your designs (typography, color palettes, shapes, etc.). In this case, you will work on packaging design and its communication in the formats you choose. Learn how to apply them to the product so that the client can visualize the language created.

That’s it! Once you finish the project, it’s time to learn how to evaluate the points of improvement for your next project.
